Simple syrup is an essential component in many cocktails, and the good news is that making it yourself is super easy. Unlike the expensive ready-made products in stores, with homemade Simple Syrup, you not only save money but can also adjust the sugar amount to your taste.

The ingredient list for homemade simple syrup is incredibly simple: you only need sugar and water. The 1:1 ratio ensures the perfect balance between sweetness and liquid. The preparation is as straightforward as the recipe itself:

Ingredients

250 g / 1 cup Sugar

2.5 dl / 1 cup Earl Grey Tea

Instructions

Step 1

Heat water with a tea bag in a pot and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add sugar to the mixture and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Ensure the liquid does not come to a boil.

Step 3

Once the syrup is clear, remove the pot from the heat and let the syrup cool.

Storage

Pour the Simple Syrup into a sealable bottle or glass and store it in the refrigerator. The shelf life can vary, but typically it lasts for a couple of days. As long as it's clear without any  cloudiness, it should be good.

Homemade simple syrup is not only a cost-effective alternative but also a way to give your cocktails a personal touch. Check out my other syrup recipes!
