Simple syrup is an essential component in many cocktails, and the good news is that making it yourself is super easy. Unlike the expensive ready-made product in stores, with homemade Simple Syrup, you not only save money but can also adjust the sugar amount to your taste.

The ingredient list for homemade simple syrup is incredibly simple: you only need sugar and water. The 1:1 ratio ensures the perfect balance between sweetness and liquid. The preparation is as straightforward as the recipe itself:

Ingredients

500 g / 2 cups Sugar

5 dl / 2 cups Water

Instructions

Step 1

Place sugar and water in a pot.

Step 2

Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. The liquid should not boil.

Step 3

Once the syrup is clear, remove the pot from the heat and let the syrup cool.

Storage

Pour the Simple Syrup into a sealable bottle or glass and store it in the refrigerator. The shelf life can vary, but typically it lasts for up to about a month. As long as it's clear without any white cloudiness, it should be good.

Homemade Simple Syrup is not only a cost-effective alternative but also a way to give your cocktails a personal touch. Syrups are generally easy to make and can add that extra something to your cocktails. I'll be sharing more syrup recipes in the future.

Until then, enjoy making cocktails!
